RUSSIA 100 RUBLES 2022 GEM UNC

The Central Bank of Russia unveiled the design of the new 100-ruble banknote on June 30, 2022. On the same day, it was officially declared as a means of payment, although it has not yet entered into circulation.

Reasons for Delay:
The primary reason for the delay in circulation is that ATMs are not yet configured to accept the new 100-ruble bills. Additionally, software updates required to process the new currency are unavailable due to ongoing sanctions. The banknote also requires foreign materials for its production, such as Swiss iridescent paint, which is currently unavailable.

Design Details:
The reverse side of the bill features an old map of Russia, which does not reflect the newly attached regions from the Ukraine invasion. There is a possibility that the design will be updated to include these regions before the banknote is fully circulated, making the current version rare.

The design of the bill matches the new concept used for the 200- and 2000-ruble notes. It measures 150 × 65 mm and is primarily olive in color. Moscow and the Central Federal District are depicted prominently on the front side of the note, featuring landmarks such as the Kremlin's Spasskaya Tower (the time on the chimes is set to 20:22, marking the year the bill was unveiled), Moscow State University, Zaryadye Park, Ostankino, and Shukhov TV towers.

The reverse side of the bill showcases monuments in places of military significance in Russia, including Kulikovo Field and the Rzhevsky Memorial. Additionally, there is a QR code on the banknote that leads to an information page from the Central Bank of Russia, providing details on security features and the artistic content of the bill.
